‘Scrubs’ Star Dave Franco is “Nothing Like” Cole

Posted by: admin | Comments Comments Off

Six episodes in and we’re still trying our best to get used to the new cast of ABC’s Scrubs.  But to make that transition easier, the casting department has brought in Dave Franco, whose co-stars believe he’s better suited to a teen drama instead of this.

Still, he’s making his mark on the comedy series as Cole Aaronson, an entitled and cocky med student.  He’s had his share of films in the past, but this is his biggest project yet.  What’s interesting is that he believes his personality’s nowhere near his character’s, even though he’s able to portray him so convincingly.

According to the North Bay Nugget, Dave Franco explains how Cole has put up a façade to keep others from finding him vulnerable.  “As the season progresses, you learn about his relationship with his parents, which a lot of his attitude stems from,” the Scrubs star said.

“At the same time, you see that he is a vulnerable kid.  With all that said, he puts on an arrogant front, but at the same time, it’s obvious that he’s not really this guy.  He is harmless, when it’s all said and done.”

But despite the character’s positive traits, Dave Franco asserts that he and Cole are no similar.  “I like to believe that I’m nothing like this character.  I don’t know why it comes easily to me.  I like to believe I’m a pretty friendly, gracious person, and maybe it’s just my desire to be an a– that I never am.”

Who Dave Franco is, exactly, is more than actor James Franco’s kid brother.  The two of them have worked together in the past, sharing experiences and lessons in the industry.

“He’s let me figure out things for myself, learn from my own mistakes.  But at the same time, if there is anything I ever do need to know about acting, if I have any questions, he’s always there to answer them,” Dave Franco admitted.

“But I love that he doesn’t interfere with my path. I want to have my own career.  I don’t want to be James Franco’s little brother for the rest of my life.”

Scrubs: Kanye West Is Not Dead, Says Amber Rose

Posted by: admin | Comments Comments Off

We’re getting sick of these false celebrity death reports. Last week it was Scrubs star Zach Braff, this week it’s Kanye West, but the rapper’s girlfriend says he’s very much alive.

“This RIPKanyeWest topic is not funny and its NOT TRUE!” Rose wrote on Twitter.  “He has people like myself and his family that love him very much.”

She continued, “Its in extreme poor taste to have that as a trendy topic. It’s totally disrespectful to make up a story like this where all human and we all make mistakes and to say someone died cuz of a mistake is ridiculous. U wouldn’t want someone to say that about u Or someone u love it’s not funny. #LongLiveYeezy!!!!!”

The post has since been removed, however, with the model posted multiple quotes from West’s songs saying, “I’ll always ride for my man!!!! I’m bout to get off here and still RIDE for him. LITERALLY. Holla!”

‘Scrubs:’ Sarah Chalke discusses future of show

Posted by: admin | Comments (1)

Scrubs” star Sarah Chalke recently sat down with TV Guide, and during the discussion we got a pretty good idea of what the revamped version of the long-running comedy will look like. (Warning: if you don’t want potential spoilers, now is the time to turn away.)

Chalke said that, first of all, her real-life pregnancy would in fact be written into the show; just like in the vision J.D. (Zach Braff) had at the end of this past season, Elliot will be married to her fellow doctor and expecting a baby. She claims that creator “Bill [Lawrence] was very generous to write it in, so I’m not, like, carrying a giant chart or something in front of my belly all the time.” She said that the plan was too do a few episodes until the baby gets too big before returning after a brief hiatus. Even though the story of J. D. and Elliot is not the primary story anymore, it will still have a place.

She also confirmed what many have been saying for months, that the return of “Scrubs” will be more in a classroom setting and focus more on Dr. Turk (Donald Faison) as a teacher alongside his former boss Dr. Cox (John C. McGinley). Zach Braff will still appear, though it will only be in a small handful of episodes.

Are you excited to see “Scrubs” back on the air in January, or do you think the show should’ve ended last season? Let me know your thoughts with a comment below!

Scrubs – More New Cast Members

Posted by: admin | Comments Comments Off

‘Scrubs’ taps two, rounding out cast

Michael Mosley and up-and-comer Kerry Bishe have landed the remaining two new starring roles on ABC’s “Scrubs.”

The two join Dave Franco as the three new regulars on the veteran comedy, which is shifting its setting to a medical school next season.

Mosley will play Drew, a scruffy and attractive thirysomething med student, who is getting his second shot at medical school after a major meltdown 10 years ago when he was a top candidate at Harvard Medical School.

Despite being a decade older than the other students, he is not happy about being given the role of de facto “mentor” to the young students and completely resists any friendships that may come out of that.

Bishe will play Lucy, a 22-year-old first-year med student who is an attractive all-American girl and the first in her close-knit family of commercial fishermen to go to college. Lucy is bright and has learned impressive surgical skills from gutting fish, but is overwhelmed by the pressure of the workload, the new environment and the expectations of her family.

Mosley, recently seen in “The Proposal,” is repped by Gersh and Smith Talent Group.

Scrubs – First Series Regular Cast

Posted by: admin | Comments (1)

Sacred Heart University — that’s what we’ve dubbed it for now — has just accepted a new first year med student.

Sources tell me Dave Franco has been cast as a “Scrubs“‘ series regular, the first of three new actors to join the show later this year.

You may recognize Franco from “Privileged” on which he played Rose (Lucy Hale)’s boyfriend Zach. Or, perhaps, you see the resemblance between him and his big brother, James.

Either way, if you’re a “Scrubs” fan, you’ll get to know Dave later this year when he takes on the role of “Cole,” a 22-year-old medical student, who might rub people the wrong way. I’m hearing he’s a crazy entitled, rich kid whose family has no problem using their money to give him an edge.

As you can imagine, Dr. Cox will be a huge fan of his. Or just hate him with a nasty vengeance… which I very much look forward to seeing.

Scrubs: New Characters Revealed!

Posted by: admin | Comments Comments Off

Following a hilarious eighth season, which culminated in a perfect season finale, we were a bit apprehensive when NBC announced another season of Scrubs; one that will feature a slew of new characters.

But we’re encouraged by the promotion of Eliza Coupe to series regular. Her intern character of Denise was hilarious this spring.

Who will join Denise, Dr. Cox and Dr. Turk as the main characters this season? NBC sent out a casting notice this week, as it seeks to fill the following key roles for the fall:

  • Lucy Tompkins: A 22-year-old first year medical student, quite attractive all-American girl, from a close-knit family of commercial fishermen.
  • Drew Suffin: A 30-year-old medical student, scruffy but attractive with sex appeal, and charisma. Similar to Bill Murray.
  • Cole McCallister: A 22-year-old medical student, very handsome, charming, conservative, confidently stupid, impeccably-dressed and very entitled. Annoys the heck out of Dr. Cox.

Creator Bill Lawrence has said he wants at least one major name to join the show. Does anyone come to mind for any of these roles?

Dr. Cox will have a new set of students to scream out on season nine of Scrubs. We can’t wait.

Josh Bycel Takes Over on Scrubs

Posted by: admin | Comments Comments Off

Many changes are coming to Scrubs. In front of the camera, as previously reported, the sitcom will shift to medical school, with Dr. Cox and Dr. Turk taking over as the main characters.

Behind the camera, meanwhile, the series is getting a new executive producer: Josh Bycel – whose credits include Psych and American Dad – will join the show, according to Variety.

Bycel essentially replaces producers Neil Goldman and Garrett Donovan, who have moved on to NBC’s Community; he’ll help oversee the show while creator Bill Lawrence gets the new comedy Cougar Town off the ground.
